Red Fox Coffee Cup

Autumn painted me this darling fox mug for Christmas....It is so cute I just had to share it!!!

The fox has the sweetest face....

And I love the Birch trees...they give it such a wonderful wintery feeling.  I think I will have to do some on my next Christmas stocking (the fox too)!!

Do you think she could sell these on Etsy??
She could do a whole woodland group of mugs...  :)

Well Happy New Years Everyone!!
Make this the year you focus on things you love!!!

Fall Pumpkin Floral Arrangement DIY

Thought I'd share some fun little floral arrangements I did at work....
Yup...They'er in real pumpkins!

Aren't they fun?

Front

Back
HERE'S HOW WE DO IT...

*Carve out the pumpkin and line the inside with cellophane (to help hold water).
*Add a fully wet block of floral foam, cutting and piecing if need (to fill the whole pumpkin).
*I like to add the lid..using a wooden skewer
*Next step is to fill in the sides with greens...I added Hypericum for a touch of red...but rose hips would be lovely too.
*Lastly add the flowers.

Wouldn't these look great on your Thanksgiving table??

Have a great day!!

Re-Purposed Globe

I have been wanting to share this since last year but because I put a skeleton and a pumpkin in my cute worldly bowl...I felt like I need to wait till closer to Halloween....Note to self don't make things seasonal if they're not.  :)

Anyway, it was a fun fairly simple project.  I after cutting the globe in half (okay after having my husband cut the globe in half) I painted the inside blue with acrylic paint...The globe is cardboard so it took several coats to get an even coverage.

For the bowl I used my hot glue gun and glued a crystal candle stick to the bottom...brilliant...nope!!!
When I picked up the bowl the first layer of the globe just ripped off and the two pieces came apart...so I re-glued but the same thing kept happening....Not a sell-able item.  :(
If I was to try it again I would use a wooden candle stick and screw the two pieces together...The crystal was just to heavy for the paper on the globe.

To make the lamp shade I again used my hot glue gun to glue the ribbon of beads around the bottom of the shade...This time there was no problem.
I picked up the lamp at G.W. ...the colors were perfect so I didn't even have to paint it...SCORE!!
The screw went threw the hole on the top of the globe and the finial on top of that...So Simple!

Well I guess you could say I've gone global.  :)

Frakinpillow an Easy to Sew Project

Today I'm sharing a project my daughter Autumn did.....

I call it "Frakinpillow."
Isn't it cute???

So here's what she did....
The size of Auto's pill form was 15"X 15" so the first thing she did is cut the canvas for the front 16"X 16"...This gave her room for a 1/2 inch seam allowance all the way around.

After finding a image she liked on the internet, she used a pencil and lightly free handed the image onto her cloth canvas.  Using acrylic craft paint she simply filled it in....Easy Peasy!!

For the back she choose a fun bat fabric and used the envelope closure method...making the over lap large enough that we didn't have to put  buttons or a zipper in...(my goal was to make it a quick and easy project).  There are plenty of on line tutorials on sewing the back and we were in to big of a hurry to "get-er done" to take pics.....but a visit to Pinterest will give you more than enough instructions.  :)
Yup...She made a Candy Corn one too...Dang it's fun having a daughter!!...
LOVE YA BABE!!

Fox Gloves from Felted Wool

Good morning my friends!!!

Thought I'd share with you these cute little fox gloves I just finished.  (They're in my etsy shop if your interested)...

With Autumn finally here I'm in a sewing mood...isn't that funny how your moods and interests change with the seasons...Suddenly I'm cooking and sewing (as apposed to the lets cook hot dogs at the fire pit attitude I have all summer).  :)

Anyway these little cuties were made out of a wool sweater that was felted and then I cut the end of sleeves off  to create the finger-less gloves.  For the face I just used pieces out of wool I had left over from other projects.

I love the fall feeling of these babys!!

I know you haven't seen much of me this summer and just so ya know...I did miss blogging!!!  I have a new job and it took a bit of adjusting to the schedule but I think I'm back.  :)  I HAVE been working on my vintage trailer and it's coming together nicely, so watch for some posts on that....

And as always...Thanks for visiting!!

Succulent Garden

By now you probably know how much I LOVE succulents...and whats not to love???
They are easy to care for, can be planted in about any container, they look great planted alone or with others....They just might be the perfect plant!!

Heck... I've even seen them used in a corsage and boutonnieres.

Today, I thought you might enjoy seeing some colanders I planted up for benefit  auction last month.

The first thing I did was line the colanders with a coco mat to keep the dirt in...Then I filled them up with potting mix.

Because it was for Fishline (an organization helps feed the hungry in our area) and I was using colanders I stuck with a food theme adding a vintage milk glass cup to one and a ladle to the other....

I always like to add something shiny and a few stones or pebbles too...

The third one I added a miniature bench...just to mix things up a bit.  :)

Gypsy Heart Necklace

Finished this little necklace the other day...

I have been pinning fiber art for jewelry for some time now and finally decide to try my hand at it....
True to my nature (and my budget) I wasn't about to buy anything new to make it.

Of course I have a plenty of felted wool scraps laying around...and
I love the combination of green and pink...and with Valentines just around the corner...Well it just made sense to put them together!!

The lace came out of of sandwich bag full of vintage ribbon I picked up at a garage sale...
And of course the buttons are vintage too!!

I hand stitched a smaller heart on the back ...Can't leave it blank.  :)

So what do you think??  It was fin to make...but will it sell??

Vintage Sewing Cabinet

I haven't done any furniture makeovers since November...Yikes!!
So I thought I'd share this little sewing cabinet I finish last fall....

Found her earlier in the summer at a garage sale....so when I came across this sweet image of a girl sewing at Graphic Fairy I instantly knew where it belonged.

The first thing I did was paint it with homemade chalk paint...The color is a lovely blue gray called "Rain Drop" by Bher.

I used the same Mod Podge transfer method that I always use.  You can find the complete instructions HERE.

Not sure what is is about vintage sewing cabinets and boxes but I just can't say no to them....I must not be the only one because this little gal sold right away.  :)

The weather has been fridged  this last week but I'm in the mood to paint...so I think I'll work on something small that I can do indoors.  :)  But it is defiantly time for me to get back into the painting groove!!!
Have a great weekend!

Fingerless Gloves for Valentines

Finished these gloves just in time for Valentines....
Not that I'm a big fan of Valentines Day (to sticky sweet for me) but I picked up this lovely pink sweater from GW...
and it was the perfect girly pink ...

So I cut out a felt heart and then cut it in half
and sewed them on the palms...

The lace came from a bag of ribbon and lace I picked up a a sale and was just just waiting for such a project!!  I cut two 3" pieces off ...
Gathered them in the middle and hand stitched them on.
Then stitched the hearts on top...
Finishing it off with a little vintage button.

I have to admit I'm kind-of loving on hearts right now...which is completely out of character...maybe I don't hate valentines as much as I thought.....but I still think it's a silly holiday!!

Denise
I will be posting to many of the parties on my side bar...so do check them out!  :)
PS:  I have started painting furniture again...so watch for some fun new projects!!

Jewelry Remix...

I somehow ended up with some pieces of silver plated silverware...They were hiding at the bottom of a box of junk I picked up last summer...SCORE!!"
So here's what I made with them....

I had a jar of vintage jewelry that had been just waiting for such a project...
Not to mention jars and jars of vintage buttons...I can't say no to them.  :)
But I did have to pick up the metal stamps.

The first piece I did was for the wife of our team photographer...She's such a dear and shows up to all our volleyball games to cheer the girls on.

I've made all kinds of jewelry on and off for the last 30 years.  It was fun to get back into it, this time using scraps of this and that.

Love this one with the vintage lace and buttons...Perfect for a seamstress!!

My inspiration came from My Salvaged Treasures...She does such beautiful work and is so worth following!!

I am having way to much fun...there is defiantly more to come...
But for today that's it...Thanks for visiting

Out of One Green Sweater...

I've been a sewing mood lately...(I'm a very moody person)  :)
Any-How...
I thought I'd share with you some projects I made out of  a wonderful mossy green sweater, that I felted in the washing machine...

I started buying and felting wool sweaters years ago to make Christmas stockings...

A few years later I stated making fingerless gloves from the sleeves...

Do you see why I call it Mossy Green?
Now the first thing I do is cut the sleeves to make gloves....
I sew around the wrist and of course embellish them.  :)

I managed to squeeze not one but two Wool Slugs out of the scraps....

Made a tree for my Christmas Alien to hold...

And it was the perfect color for the stems of my Burlap Pumpkins.

You will also find it as the center or the leaves of my wool flowers....

Oh yes...not much goes to waste...If you pay attention you will see tiny pieces in other projects down the road..

But that's it for today.

Peace, Love and Hippy Beads...
