Candy Corn Bottles

I'm not sure if it was the last few days of pouring down rain or the fact that I could see Bryan's breath the other morning as we headed to the patio, for our cup of joe...
But I am finally in a Autumn mood....

It's time to lite those pumpkin spice candles, put out a few fall decorations, plus get organized and ready for school to start...I hate the last part.  :(

So here's a little project I did last year but never had time to share...(my life definitely does not get easier when the kiddo's go back to school)...

I picked up these bottles at the GW...but it was last year so I have no idea what I paid..although they had to be cheap...that is what I do..cheap :)

I pounded a piece of rod iron in ground to hold the bottles (I do the same thing to paint bowling balls) and then used orange spray paint to cover the whole thing....
After the first coat had dried I sprayed the top with white paint and the bottom with yellow..
Easy Peasy!

I then filled them with fall foliage...

And put them under the oil painting I did of Cally...
Sooo
Let the air get crisp and the leaves fall...I am finally ready...I think.  :)

Eiffel Tower Side Table / Night Stand

I haven't posted any furniture re-do's lately, so I thought it was time....
And this is pretty cute; if I may say so myself.  :)

I got it at the GW along with a couple other pieces...(The Good Will is usually over priced)....but this was a good day....

I lightly sanded it and painted it with some of my homemade chalk paint...
Three coats to be exact...It wasn't an easy cover.

I added the Eiffel Tower and used stamps to add the word Paris....
But...

It was still missing something...

So I added these cute little drawer pulls from Hobby Lobby.

Just the right touch, don't you think?

Altered Dominoes...The Raven

I have had so much fun making Altered Clipboards, that I decided to size it down a bit and make some tiny little collages...on Dominoes.

Not that I'm pushing Autumn...This summer has been far to gorgeous to give it up!!
But I know it's time to start gearing up for the next season (The sad truth is...I should be working on Christmas, but I just can't bring myself to do it quite yet).

Anyway these were a fun change from painting furniture....letting my creative juices go in a different direction.

This made my A.D.D. self very happy!!  :)

The lettering was printed up on my 1970's electric typewriter...because I love it's font!!!

The moth came from The Graphics Fairy and the Raven was from a Martha Stewart Stencil.
The rest was scrap paper I had around the house.

Know what?  They do kind-of make me look forward to fall...After all it is my favorite season...just not quite yet!!

Kids Art: How to Draw a Deer

Summer Art camp was a huge success this year!!  We had 17 students from the ages of 8-13...All of them wonderful and talented individuals!!

With that being said...I'm sure you can understand why there are so many samples...
I couldn't leave anyone of these darling deer's out.  :)

If you scroll down to the bottom of the post you can find the directions for my directed draw.

Don't you just love the horns on this fella?

But do enjoy the pictures on the way down!!  :)

The kids all do eyes so differently...You can tell each one has already developed their own style.

Golly I love this guys face...It just makes me smile!!

So many different wonderful designs!!

Dang...These kids make me look good!!  :)

So here is my directed draw...

I know...It's not very professional but I got it done and you should be able to click on it and print it or save to you computer...It should at least give you an idea of how to do a directed draw..
I always do them on the white board one step at a time so the kids can follow along...
And to be honest..Theirs always look better than mine!  :)

We used a black sharpie to go over the drawing and then painted the back ground with water colors.

Next step was to add a design to the deer.

Well that's it....Now it's your turn; go ahead and volunteer at your local school and put a smile on some kids face!!!

Will, as usual, be linking up to  the parties on my sidebar.
