Suitcase Side Table...(The perfect place to store knitting)!

You probably already know, I have a love for all things vintage...With that being said; one of my very favorites (for now, at least)... is the Vintage Suitcase!  I think it all started with a pair I got form my dad...I store my half finished Christmas Stockings in them.  :)
Anyway I got this "lovey", free at a rummage sale...can you believe that...free!
Made my day!!!

I also got an old glass top coffee table with the glass missing for free.
They both sat around for far too long...until one day a light bulb went off in that little head of mine....

I took the legs off the table and tossed the top...(It was ugly anyway).
I then went down to Home Depot and purchased some bolts, because...some where along the way, I lost the ones that had been taken off...

My husband then bolted them on to the bottom of the case and
 TA-DA

A lovey new (well kind-of) side table.

I think the legs  match the Suitcase perfectly...Don't you?

Now it is ready to do double duty...as a side or end table, as well as an awesome place to store things...maybe your knitting, or some extra books and a cosy blanket...Hmmm...
What would you store in it?

Denise  :)

I will be linking to many of the parties on my side bar...Do check them out!!

  11. Ahhh oh my god this thing is hilarious. At first glance it looks pretty, then it looks baffling, and only after you've stared at it for a minute do you realize what it is. Or at least that was my experience! I love it when furniture acts as both decoration and storage. This would be perfect for my piles of magazines.

I think the other crafters on Kollabora, the DIY community, would love this as much as I do. Maybe you could post it to the home decor section!

  15. I love the legs!! I did something similar but used legs purchased from Lowes (at $5/leg that got pretty expensive). I also made a chair as well to match the table as I had a suitcase set and thought it would look neat ;) Feel free to check them out at UpcycledAntiques.com.I saw your link over at Kammy's Corner and wanted to personally invite you to my very first linky party that I am hosting - Tute's Tuesdays at UpcycledAntiques.com. This is my first time hosting so advice would be greatly appreciated! I hope to see you at the party! ;) Again, I LOVE table and it really would be a great place to store yarn and such. I use the one I made to store CDs/DVDs to keep them hidden from my toddlers ;)

  17. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this! I have an avocado green train case just like the blue one you have--it was my mom's back in "the day." Yours looks to be in much better shape, though! (What can I say? I didn't know what a great thing I had when I was a kid!)
