Sunday at the Horse Show

It was a cold and windy Sunday in February that we bundled up and headed off  to see my niece in one of the first horse shows of the season, at Sandamare Farms here in Poulsbo.

The wind chill probably brought the temp down to about zero..... but Charlotte's smile and enthusiasm kept us warm!!!

No kiddin - whenever shes on that horse she has the biggest smile on her face...and it doesn't seem to matter if she's in the winners circle or having an off day...both her and Gracie just seem happy to be together!!  (Every girl should have a horse...hmmm...don't tell my daughter I said that!)  :)

Even her Grammie and Great Aunt Char braved the weather to support their favorite rider...Her mom runs the snack shack...a.k.a. the "Feed Trough"...I'm bettin they sold a lot of hot chocolate that day!!

She won one 1st, two 2nds and a couple others but this is the only ribbon I got a picture of.....She sits the saddle so well...I wish I could of got better pictures of her actual riding!!  But.....

The  riding arena was REALLY HARD to take pictures in ...It is dark... but then you have these huge doors openings and large windows that put a lot of light all in the wrong place...I took a ton of pictures of her jumping but none of them turned out.  :(

Anyway that's Sunday in my City...
whats yours?

Project 64: Week #8, Lavender

Whew...I barley made it in time to link up to Project 64 color of the week.... Lavender.....Lucky for me this color is everywhere in my garden...I found it in my Heather, which is one of the very few plant that bloom in my garden this time of year....The cool thing is.... they bloom for about 6 weeks!!!  :)

Yes that's snow behind the blooms!

Several years ago we painted the doors and shutters of the Play House a bright shade of lavender and ever sense I keep adding it to my garden.

Autumn made me this bird house for Mothers day when she was in the 4th grade...The swallows and chickadees fight over it every year.

I can't remember how I broke this flower pot but it was to pretty to throw out so I "layed it to rest" in the garden with plants (hens and chicks) spilling from it.

More lovely Heather blooming in the last (I think) snow of the winter.

Project 64 Week #7 Indigo

Yippee...I finally found it that elusive color I've been lookin for all week  INDIGO...Oddly enough it was right here in my studio all the time!!  (Isn't that the way it always goes?)

I started this oil painting over 2 years ago of my kids skim boarding on the beach at Point No Point.....I think it's about time I finish it!!

I now edit all my pictures in Picnik (I hope you can see the difference)...Anyway I used Panography for this one and really liked the effect!!!  What do you think?

Here's a shot of my ceramic painting desk with my Indigo plate I use for paints...I'm trying to get more chalkboard pendants done for Etsy....not to mention my Garden Gnomes would be perfect for St. Patty's day!!!

This hat I just finished...You might have seen it in my "Warm and Cozy Sunday" post...it was still on the needles then...

Well thanks for visiting and if you haven't joined yet....Please play along it's loads of fun!!!

A Warm and Cozy Sunday

Last Sunday, the wind outside was blowing the rain sideways...... but inside my fire was keeping the place warm and cozy!!!  The kids were both, all snugged in their beds...Hubby too.....and I had the morning to myself....ahhhh....

I sat in my favorite chair, with my knitting (a hat I'm working on out of the softest Alpaca yarn), my coffee and several of my favorite art magazines and books and did what I love to do....read a little...dream a little...and knit a little.....I was at peace with the world!

You might wonder what I read (when it's not my sons homework)....well this Sunday it was........Cloth.paper.scissors Studio magazine, it always inspires me...not just to create the perfect studio space but also the artists in the magazine give me inspiration and a creative boost of energy!!!  My "Mixed-Media  self-portraits" book by Cate Coulacos Prato...is full of great ideas...some I'm planning to use with my art students....Maybe next week....
For now this is my favorite coffee cup...I just LOVE the colors in it...I got it in my stocking for Christmas...from my Mommy. :)...... Well,  I guess Sunday in my city this week was really Sunday in my home...but sometimes (most often) that's the best place to be!

Hmmmmmm.......I can hear the crackle of the fire in the living room...And I'm sure my knitting is calling me.....I hope this Sunday you too can take some time to relax reflect and enjoy a peaceful slice of life!
