How to Make Altered Art Domino Pendants

The other day I had some friends over to make pendants out of dominoes...
What fun we had!!!

Not to mention the results were beautiful.

This whole project started when Maryanne picked up some Bakelite Dominoes at a garage sale.
Ellen tied me down to a time (which is sometimes hard to do) plus she promised to bring lunch....Yummm!
I gathered up materials cleared the kitchen table not that it stayed clear for long...

What a fun, creative mess!!

Three of the ladies brought stamps...something I had never considered...

And Ellen kept finding the perfect words out of an old paper back that was torn up from some other project....

She also brought 3 rolls of washi tape...something that I had never used before...

Mary brought an old photo of her twin sisters...
and made a necklace for each of them.  :)

The picture was kind of grainy so I did my best to edit it on the computer before cropping and printing it out for the pendants.

I think they turned out nice.  Don't you?

So here's what we did in a nut shell...
Using scrap paper, washi tape, stamps, pages from a book and old photo's we planed our design for each domino.

Next glue the pieces onto each domino using a craft glue.

Use a finger nail file to file the paper along the edges of your domino.

Last step is to seal them with Diamond Glaze.  Try not to get any bubbles but if you do we used toothpicks to remove them.

Diamond Glaze is wonderful stuff but I'm careful not to get it on my counter tops, so I always use a paper plate.

I like to place a bit of sparkle in the wet glaze...which holds it for life.  :)

Altered Dominoes...The Raven

I have had so much fun making Altered Clipboards, that I decided to size it down a bit and make some tiny little collages...on Dominoes.

Not that I'm pushing Autumn...This summer has been far to gorgeous to give it up!!
But I know it's time to start gearing up for the next season (The sad truth is...I should be working on Christmas, but I just can't bring myself to do it quite yet).

Anyway these were a fun change from painting furniture....letting my creative juices go in a different direction.

This made my A.D.D. self very happy!!  :)

The lettering was printed up on my 1970's electric typewriter...because I love it's font!!!

The moth came from The Graphics Fairy and the Raven was from a Martha Stewart Stencil.
The rest was scrap paper I had around the house.

Know what?  They do kind-of make me look forward to fall...After all it is my favorite season...just not quite yet!!

Suitcase Side Table...(The perfect place to store knitting)!

You probably already know, I have a love for all things vintage...With that being said; one of my very favorites (for now, at least)... is the Vintage Suitcase!  I think it all started with a pair I got form my dad...I store my half finished Christmas Stockings in them.  :)
Anyway I got this "lovey", free at a rummage sale...can you believe that...free!
Made my day!!!

I also got an old glass top coffee table with the glass missing for free.
They both sat around for far too long...until one day a light bulb went off in that little head of mine....

I took the legs off the table and tossed the top...(It was ugly anyway).
I then went down to Home Depot and purchased some bolts, because...some where along the way, I lost the ones that had been taken off...

My husband then bolted them on to the bottom of the case and
 TA-DA

A lovey new (well kind-of) side table.

I think the legs  match the Suitcase perfectly...Don't you?

Now it is ready to do double duty...as a side or end table, as well as an awesome place to store things...maybe your knitting, or some extra books and a cosy blanket...Hmmm...
What would you store in it?
