Two Tone Buffet

This weeks post is going to be short and sweet...

Kind-of like this little Buffet (or is it a dry sink?  I'm not quite sure).

I got it from and friend and apparently failed to take any before pictures.

***
But it didn't need much, I just gave it a good all over cleaning and then painted the frame with some of my homemade chalk paint...did a little distressing...a little waxing....added a drawer pull and TA-DA finished!!!
My kind of project!
That's it for today...Like I promised "Short and Sweet".

Cottage Side Table

Just finished this cutie on Friday and I must say..."I am very pleased with it"!!
It was in great shape when I got it...Forgot to take before a before picture but it was painted white and...

Just need a little "freshing -up"...
So I grabbed my favorite Martha Stewart White...
Added some plaster of Paris to make chalk paint...
And painted the outside.

The drawer and the inside got a couple coats of rainwater ( I think that's a M.S. color too.... I get it at Home Depot).  I lightly distressed it and the gave it a clear coat of wax.

The drawer pull had a 70's look and I wasn't in love with anything I had at home so I decided to make my own...What do you think??  I really like it!!

I twisted two strands of twine...ran it threw washers and then threw the drawer and tied a knot on the back side.  I used crazy glue to glue the washers to the drawer...Just to keep them where they belonged.

I will be selling it at Valley Vintage Market this weekend on Central Valley Road here in Poulsbo...Come say hello!!

And as usual I will be linking up to Parties on my sidebar...check them out too!!

Eiffel Tower Side Table / Night Stand

I haven't posted any furniture re-do's lately, so I thought it was time....
And this is pretty cute; if I may say so myself.  :)

I got it at the GW along with a couple other pieces...(The Good Will is usually over priced)....but this was a good day....

I lightly sanded it and painted it with some of my homemade chalk paint...
Three coats to be exact...It wasn't an easy cover.

I added the Eiffel Tower and used stamps to add the word Paris....
But...

It was still missing something...

So I added these cute little drawer pulls from Hobby Lobby.

Just the right touch, don't you think?

Shabby Side Table

It must be Summertime because I seem to be in a white and yellow mood...There is something about that combination that is so fresh, clean and warm...Just like a northwest summer.  :)

Anyway my last two pieces of furniture I painted in that combination...but they were both just asking for it...

Today I'm going to share the side Table I picked up after a Volleyball camp...
I drop my girl off and then went shopping...what fun!!

So this is how it started out...kind of beat up with a reddish stain...but I loved its lines...the criss-cross on the sides, the detail around the edges...It had potential!!

I gave it a quick sanding, grabbed my homemade chalk paint and got started...

It took 3 coats of paint and some sanding in between to cover up the original finish, but it was soooo worth it!!

I used my a sander to "Shabby it Up" and then waxed it with my own little recipe...It's a combination of clear wax and Briwax in Golden Oak...I don't tend to use dark waxes...I like my colors clear and clean.

Lastly...I just had to share this lovely shadow that was on my side table when I went out to take pictures...It made me smile.

French Garden Table

Wow...What a whirlwind week I had...I guess you could say that for the last month!!  My son Garret, graduated from High school on Friday...Heavy Sigh!!
We had a huge party for him yesterday...It was so much fun!!!  I thank God everyday for my wonderful friends and family!!

Anyway....that's another post for another day...Today I'm going to share this little table I picked up at a garage sale.  I'm sure it had a glass center at one time, but when I found it, there was a piece of unfinished wood instead....That made my job so easy.  :)

I painted it with some homemade chalk paint and then grabbed a stencil I had purchased online at Etsy here:
They have some wonderful stencil and I'm always happy when I can send a fellow "Etsyian" some love!  :)

I also added a couple of stamps, just for fun...
Painted  two protective coats of polyacrlic and sent it down to the shop....
That's it for now...but I'm back and have a ton of goodies to share...so do keep in touch!! :)

French Bench

Here's a little cutie that I just finished and droped off at my space tonight...Isn't she darling?  I don't usually brag about my things but I just love this piece!  :)

Here's her before pic...not bad but she didn't sell and I had originally planed on painting her anyway....I just put her in the shop until I had the time.

I painted her with several coats of homemade chalk paint and then added these wonderful images from; The Graphic Fairy.  You can find an easy tutorial on how to do this here.

The fabric is burlap from Jo-Ann's...That I purchased with a 40% off coupon...Of course!
(I also plan on using the fabric, to make a matching bulletin board, out of a vintage frame)

I know that you will probably never see the back but doesn't the vintage postage stamp look great?

And I must say it is so nice to be able to take pictures in my garden again...Yea Spring!!
XXXOOO

"Paris in Spring" Occasional Table

So I've been trying to finish a piece of furniture a week ...which isn't easy now that I'm back to work at the nursery...but I do think I organize my time better when I have a lot going on....
The thing I don't always get done is my blog post and sometimes I wait way to long to respond to your WONDERFUL comments so I do apologize!!

Anyhow, I finished this piece last week and I am so pleased with it!!  I got it last summer at a garage sale and knew then, I wanted to decoupage the top...The original plan was put a map with Point No Point (Our very favorite beach) on it.... but I couldn't find one with the colors I wanted.

So I got on Etsy and searched maps...They had a ton of maps and fabric with  travel themes.

I found two that I liked and purchased from Loris Country Fabrics.  The other is going on a "Suitcase Coffee table"...but that will be another post.  :)

Don't you just love the fabric???

Here's my before picture...Man do I miss summer!  I purchased the other two tables at the same time....Look how green my yard was...Heavy Sigh.  :(

Anyway...
I painted it with homemade chalk paint and then distressed it all over...I like the way the black came through when sanded!!

I cut the fabric a little smaller than the table top...and then used Mod Podge to adhere it.
I put on several coats of Mod Podge and then sealed the whole thing with polycrylic.

My son's girl friend liked it so much that we covered the top of her table with the same fabric....
She painted her's pink.....too cute (although not the best picture..sorry)!!

Well that's it for now but stay in touch I have a lot more to come!  :)

Awesome Chalkboard Coffee Table

OK...This is by far the BEST, MOST AWESOME piece of furniture I have done!!!
The only reason I can give it up is the colors don't go at all in my house.  :)

Don't cha just love it?

When I saw it at the Good Will I knew I had to have it!!!
I loved the shape of it (especially the legs), it has a Mid-Century Modern feel.

The top had some burn marks on it, but other than that it was in good shape and made of solid wood.
So after my lovely husband sanded it for me I painted it with several coats  BEHR Ultra in "Full Moon."

I then taped off the area for the chalkboard and painted it with Krylon Chalkboard paint....It felt to white, so I added jade("Winter Surf") to the inside of the legs...better
But it was still missing something...I then added "Hollyhock Pink" around the edge (a Martha Stewart color, also from Home Depot).

I loved the way the jade was just a little surprise on the inside of the legs but it didn't show well and it was a great color !!!  Sooo.....

I added two jade stripes to the top....Perfect!

Here it is sitting in front of my couch...
My son's girl friend wanted it for her bed room but then decided she needed a smaller version for her dorm room next year.  :)
Well that's it for now and thanks for letting me brag!!!

Of course I will be linking up to those rockin parties on my side bar!!

Two Drawer Side Table

Wow this week had just zipped by!!!  I started back at the tree farm on Monday....Am I ever sore and tired, but I promised myself to keep pushing on and try finish a piece of furniture a week...
So here's last weeks project...

I got this baby at the GW unfinished and ready to paint...
Can you believe that...Sometimes wishes do come true.  :)

I painted the body with BEHR's Semi-Gloss Paint and Primer.
(The color is Full Moon)

The drawers I painted with one coat of the white and then two coats of "Valley Mist" by BEHR.
(I like that you can get little samples cheep)!

The drawer pulls are painted with my favorite Yellow: "Whisper Yellow" again by BEHR.

Here is is down in my space at Viking Village.

The space is kind-of empty now so I am working hard to fill it back up...I plan on adding a Chalkboard Coffee Table on Friday (I will post it sometime next week....I'm hoping it will be way cool).
Sooo....
I'm off to paint just one more coat of Chalkboard paint....

Thanks for Stopping by!!

Post Cards from Paris Table...(The Real Post)

Yikes...I don"t know what I just did...I guess I hit publish, but I wasn't ready yet and then when I tried to deleted it...well...that didn't work either...DANG...anyway I apologies!!!

I'll make this post quick so my whole 98 followers don't give up on me...:) (LOVE YOU GUYS)

So this table started out as a rather plain jane table I got at a garage sale.  I painted the base a light grey...

And then sanded the top.
I got my inspiration for the top from Red Hen Home...Her Coffee Table is a must to check out...

After sanding the top, I stained it with a light pecan stain that I had at home.  And then headed off to the Graphics Fairy to get me some.....well graphics...of course!
I printed up what I needed and traced them with carbon paper onto the table.
The Eiffel tower was the only one I didn't get from Graphics Fairy...hers were a little to complicated for ME...
I needed something more simple and easier to paint!!!

After painting the top I gave it a light sanding and then distressed the bottom...
Gave it a coat of finish and Vaa Laa ...It was done.

Well that's it in a nut shell...
Thanks for visiting!!!
Denise

I will be linking up to many of those parties on my side bar...do check them out!
