Two Tone Buffet

This weeks post is going to be short and sweet...

Kind-of like this little Buffet (or is it a dry sink?  I'm not quite sure).

I got it from and friend and apparently failed to take any before pictures.

***
But it didn't need much, I just gave it a good all over cleaning and then painted the frame with some of my homemade chalk paint...did a little distressing...a little waxing....added a drawer pull and TA-DA finished!!!
My kind of project!
That's it for today...Like I promised "Short and Sweet".

Chalkboard Table and Chairs

Well I finished those chairs I picked up to go with the chalkboard table...
If you recall I painted the table last year. (you can find it here).  But it never sold...So I decided to get rid of the pink and paint some chairs to match...hoping it might sell for a playroom.

The chairs had a heavy coat of varnish...or something like that...so I painted them with a coat of oil based primmer first.

Below is the before picture ( along with some other goodies I found).

I must say chairs are a pain in the rear to paint!!  But I persevered and was happy with the end results.

I added turquoise stripes to match the table and then stenciled on the words Play and Have Fun on one and Dream, Create and Draw on the other...Okay to be honest I can't really remember what  I wrote on that one for sure and my pictures aren't very good...but you get the idea...I hope!

I also painted the back of the chairs with chalkboard.....

Here they are at the market.

I wish I had gotten better pics but I finished them the day before we had to set up so I am amazed that I took any at all!  Do you want to know the funniest thing is??  The chairs sold but not the table...What the heck??? Guess I'll be looking for more chairs!  :)

Thanks for visiting and know that I will be linking up to many of the parties on my side bar.

Cottage Side Table

Just finished this cutie on Friday and I must say..."I am very pleased with it"!!
It was in great shape when I got it...Forgot to take before a before picture but it was painted white and...

Just need a little "freshing -up"...
So I grabbed my favorite Martha Stewart White...
Added some plaster of Paris to make chalk paint...
And painted the outside.

The drawer and the inside got a couple coats of rainwater ( I think that's a M.S. color too.... I get it at Home Depot).  I lightly distressed it and the gave it a clear coat of wax.

The drawer pull had a 70's look and I wasn't in love with anything I had at home so I decided to make my own...What do you think??  I really like it!!

I twisted two strands of twine...ran it threw washers and then threw the drawer and tied a knot on the back side.  I used crazy glue to glue the washers to the drawer...Just to keep them where they belonged.

I will be selling it at Valley Vintage Market this weekend on Central Valley Road here in Poulsbo...Come say hello!!

And as usual I will be linking up to Parties on my sidebar...check them out too!!

Drexel Side Table in Milk Paint

Wow I've been out of sorts lately...I'm not sure if it's the chaos of school starting or the fact that I got a bug and have felt like crap for a week now...maybe it's just the end of summer but I haven't felt like blogging...I go to the computer but only have the energy to scroll threw Pinterest...

I have manged to get a bunch of projects done...I've been making jewelry, bags and painting furniture for the Valley Vintage Market coming up in just 10 days and I'm a bit nervous or maybe it's neurotic but I'm scared to death I wont have enough done...I have this vision of what I want it to look like but I'm running out of time.  :(

Anyway this Lovely will be there....
She's by Drexel and is definitely a quality piece of furniture!!

Here's what she looked like when I found her....Her finish was beat up, but other than that she's a solid piece of furniture!
The first thing I did was sand the top...I've been wanting to do a two tone piece for a long time!
I painted the body with Miss Mustard Seeds Milk Paint (This is the first I've used it) and am very happy with the results!!!

After doing some distressing I applied a coat of wax...I use a blend of two waxes to get the color and the finish I want...

Isn't the detailing fantastic?

I painted the drawer pull in flat black to finish the look.

So what do you think??  I don't want to let it go....but I must!!
See you at the Market.  :)

Eiffel Tower Side Table / Night Stand

I haven't posted any furniture re-do's lately, so I thought it was time....
And this is pretty cute; if I may say so myself.  :)

I got it at the GW along with a couple other pieces...(The Good Will is usually over priced)....but this was a good day....

I lightly sanded it and painted it with some of my homemade chalk paint...
Three coats to be exact...It wasn't an easy cover.

I added the Eiffel Tower and used stamps to add the word Paris....
But...

It was still missing something...

So I added these cute little drawer pulls from Hobby Lobby.

Just the right touch, don't you think?

Curbside Dresser

Don't cha just love a freebee on the side of the road???  They're my fav!!  :)
Speaking of favorites...One of my AWESOME girl friends is always finding things for me...She is a long distance runner and I swear she's everywhere.  :)  She's probably running right now as I sit at the computer with my cup of coffee typing...well at least my fingers are in shape!?!?

Anyway, she called me up one evening saying she found a dresser and I might want to take a look at it.....
Needles to say I grabbed my husband and off we went.

It was missing it drawer pulls and a bottom of one drawer, but other than that it was in great shape...so home it went.  :)

I mixed up some homemade chalk paint  (i use plaster of paris in mine) and painted it white....It had been a lovely green, so after the paint was dry I distressed it so some of the green showed through.
The cute drawer pulls came from World Market

For a bit of whimsy....I painted the sides of the drawers with random yellow dots to match the pulls.

I still need a little some thing so I headed over to The Graphics Fairy and downloaded this darling french bee design ...

Printed it out and used Mod Podge to transfer it.... You can find my tutorial on how to transfer on my side bar.  :)  Don't you think it was the perfect touch?

Here it is down in my little space...Needless to say it wasn't there for long.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!!

French Garden Table

Wow...What a whirlwind week I had...I guess you could say that for the last month!!  My son Garret, graduated from High school on Friday...Heavy Sigh!!
We had a huge party for him yesterday...It was so much fun!!!  I thank God everyday for my wonderful friends and family!!

Anyway....that's another post for another day...Today I'm going to share this little table I picked up at a garage sale.  I'm sure it had a glass center at one time, but when I found it, there was a piece of unfinished wood instead....That made my job so easy.  :)

I painted it with some homemade chalk paint and then grabbed a stencil I had purchased online at Etsy here:
They have some wonderful stencil and I'm always happy when I can send a fellow "Etsyian" some love!  :)

I also added a couple of stamps, just for fun...
Painted  two protective coats of polyacrlic and sent it down to the shop....
That's it for now...but I'm back and have a ton of goodies to share...so do keep in touch!! :)

Shop Pics and More Burlap Love....

Just thought I'd share a few new things, I just added in my little space, down at Viking Village....
I'm kind-of pleased with the Parisian theme I got goin on.  :)

I'm sure you recolonize the "French Bench" or "Settee" ( I just did a post on how I refinished it).
I covered the seat with some awesome burlap fabric...

So I deiced to make an Altered Clipboard to match.
Can you believe I found some burlap looking paper?  :)
Of course the writing wasn't in french so...

I added a couple of my favorite prints from The Graphic Fairy...
Just to make it look a little more Frenchy.

I also made an bulletin board from an old frame that I painted white, then Shabbied up...
using left over fabric from the settee to cover the board.

Here it sitting on the table I picked up at that awesome barn sale...

I have been trying to layer more down at the shop...
Using ideas I've picked up on pinterest and many of your lovey blogs...

I do think I'm getting better.
Anyway that's it for now
Two more weeks till my son graduates High School...I better get back to work....YIKES!!

French Chicken Stool Makeover

We're off to OSU for the last Volleyball tournament for the season...Wish us luck!!

Before I leave, I wanted to get one more quick post in so here it is...

This stool I painted last month so it's already come and gone from my shop.
:)

It was painted white but done very poorly so I re-painted it and added  two different graphics form The Graphic fairy... LOVE that Blog!!!

I used the Mod Podge method (you can find it here) to transfer the print onto the stool.

While they top was drying I deiced to add some black checks...Just for fun.

I then added a touch of black to legs, to even things out...
Sanded a bit, to give it that shabby look ...
Put a top coat on for protection and...

VA-LA...Done!

I will be partying at many of the groovy places at my side bar...Please check them out!
And of course I'll be at:

Awesome Chalkboard Coffee Table

OK...This is by far the BEST, MOST AWESOME piece of furniture I have done!!!
The only reason I can give it up is the colors don't go at all in my house.  :)

Don't cha just love it?

When I saw it at the Good Will I knew I had to have it!!!
I loved the shape of it (especially the legs), it has a Mid-Century Modern feel.

The top had some burn marks on it, but other than that it was in good shape and made of solid wood.
So after my lovely husband sanded it for me I painted it with several coats  BEHR Ultra in "Full Moon."

I then taped off the area for the chalkboard and painted it with Krylon Chalkboard paint....It felt to white, so I added jade("Winter Surf") to the inside of the legs...better
But it was still missing something...I then added "Hollyhock Pink" around the edge (a Martha Stewart color, also from Home Depot).

I loved the way the jade was just a little surprise on the inside of the legs but it didn't show well and it was a great color !!!  Sooo.....

I added two jade stripes to the top....Perfect!

Here it is sitting in front of my couch...
My son's girl friend wanted it for her bed room but then decided she needed a smaller version for her dorm room next year.  :)
Well that's it for now and thanks for letting me brag!!!

Of course I will be linking up to those rockin parties on my side bar!!
