Shop Pics and More Burlap Love....

Just thought I'd share a few new things, I just added in my little space, down at Viking Village....
I'm kind-of pleased with the Parisian theme I got goin on.  :)

I'm sure you recolonize the "French Bench" or "Settee" ( I just did a post on how I refinished it).
I covered the seat with some awesome burlap fabric...

So I deiced to make an Altered Clipboard to match.
Can you believe I found some burlap looking paper?  :)
Of course the writing wasn't in french so...

I added a couple of my favorite prints from The Graphic Fairy...
Just to make it look a little more Frenchy.

I also made an bulletin board from an old frame that I painted white, then Shabbied up...
using left over fabric from the settee to cover the board.

Here it sitting on the table I picked up at that awesome barn sale...

I have been trying to layer more down at the shop...
Using ideas I've picked up on pinterest and many of your lovey blogs...

I do think I'm getting better.
Anyway that's it for now
Two more weeks till my son graduates High School...I better get back to work....YIKES!!

Burlap Lamp Shade DIY

On a recent trip to Yakima for a Volleyball tournament I picked up this beautiful Crystal Lamp....

But the shade looked like this....

YUCK!!!
So I went to work to create this Lovely...

Big smile..happy sigh :)

So this is how I did it:

The first thing I did is rip off the old outside fabric on the shade.

Using burlap fabric that I already had on hand, I cut a stripe about 4 inched wider than the lamp shade measuring from top to bottom.

Using my hot glue gun, I glued the it to one of the wires and then stretched it to the next one also gluing to it.
On the 3rd wire I glued and then cut the fabric leaving it close to the wire.

I then went back and turned the burlap over the top  and bottom of the shade gluing it in place as I went.

I then started again but this time gluing on top of the last wire with the fabric on it.  I repeated this process until the shape was fully covered.

For the flowers I did a simple rolled flower You can find the tut here:  On The 36th Avenue
One of my very favorite blogs I might add!!! :)

For the leaves I first covered one side with Mod Podge so they wouldn't fray.  After they were dry, I just cut out leaf shapes in different sizes.

I used the hot glue gun to glue them on....

EASY PEASY!!!!

Here it is lit...I wish I didn't have to sell it.....  :(

And here it is down at my space in Viking Village.

Lavender Heart Sachets for Valentines

Here is a quick and easy project to spiff your space up for Valentines Day plus give it a bit of a springy feel (and smell too).

First I made a pattern out of card stock....you remember...just like we did in grade school ...fold the paper in half and cut and then open it up.  :)
I then folded my fabric right sides together and then traced around the heart with a pencil.

Not wanting to sew and then have to turn the fabric inside out I choose to use my pinking sheers to cut out the hearts.I pinned them and added a ribbon on the inside for the ones I wanted to hang....on my cool white tree that I got for a dollar last summer....just had to brag a bit.  :)
Anyhow..

I sewed around the edges leaving a space open to add the stuffing...
Stuffed them with lavender seed and poly-fill...then sewed up the hole.

They seemed a little plain so I hand sewed a button on each side....Done!  :)

For the banner I simply cut slits to thread the ribbon through.

Here they are down in my space at Viking Village....

Just what it needed!

Told ya they were easy to make!

(Will be linking up to many of those AWESOME link parties on my side bar)!

Give Thanks and Celebrate Autumn

I promised to give you guys a peek at what's new in my space at Viking Village...Halloween is just about over... so I added this vintage frame reminding us to "Give Thanks".

It's priced a little higher than my others...basically because I had to pay more for it...
Hopefully someone else will see the same value in it that I did.  :)

Here's a very large chalkboard that I added a while ago...
I guess by now ya know how much I love chalkboards!!!

Just another look at my Autumn / Halloween mantel... that's forever changing.
I plan on putting Christmas and winter out this week (If I can find the time).
Yikes...If your a crafter you already know...
The Holidays are here!

I will be linking up to many of the party's on my side bar...check them out!
And
Thanks for visiting!

Thrifty Finds in Shades of Autumn

Thought I'd share with all of you my "Thrifty Finds" from the other day...
Autumn had a Volley Ball Tournament this Saturday so I went out "Garage Selling" early Friday Morning...

I just love the skeleton block print...It's titled "Waiting for the perfect man"  HA HA

I hit about 7 Garage Sales but only bought at 3 of them....
And it seems that everything I gathered up went dang great together!!...

Must have been my subconscious because I didn't plan it that way.

Here they are down at Viking Village...I think the Fox playing cards would be perfect in a collage!
The fabric is a wool lovely wool quilt top....It's so cozy....Maybe someone will finish it!  :)

My favorite piece is the plaid cooler in the back...I wanted to use it for Auto's volley ball game but I bit the bullet and brought it down to the shop instead.  :(

Everything is sitting on a way cool Vintage Trunk, that another vender owns right outside my space (It even has the original key)!....
Anyway it was Sooo nice of her to let me put my display on it!!!

How about you any Awesome finds out there??
I would love to hear about them...Leave me a comment and a link, if you wrote about it!
And a usual...Thanks for visiting!
