Weekend Finds

Yesterday was a good day for picking!....Look at all these treasures...
I'm even not sure what I'm most excited about.
Hmmm..
Let's start with the two child size chairs...I plan on painting them to match my chalkboard coffee table...they tuck perfectly under it.  :)  The only problem I see is; that they are sporting that awful shellac (at least I think that's what it is) that loves to bleed threw, I think I'll paint them with a coat of stain blocker first.

Isn't the red step stool darling?  I just need to clean it up and it's ready to go.

I also picked up some more domino's for jewelry.  Plus a Domino tray to display them in...(I've already painted it white).

As you know I'n a sucker for anything 50s and this kitchen step chair is just peachy!!!
Not to mention in great condition!!!

The metal file cabinet has has the most wonderful patine...I plan on leaving it as is and just give it a good cleaning.  What do you think...Will the red sell?

And how about this floor fan...cool (get it) or what???

Oh, I almost forgot one of my bestest finds...That blue cart in the back..
I'm thinkin Coffee Station.  Funky Junk just did a feature on Creative Coffee Stations that totally inspired me....you can find it here.

That's it for today...Have you found anything marvelous lately??

Valley Vintage Market

Here they are...The pictures of my booth at Valley Vintage Market.  With windows in the back of the spaces it made it hard for me to get great pictures but heck at least I took some.  :)

Well....at least I took some of MY space...I have know idea why I didn't take any of the others....
I guess I was just to darn excited!!  This was my first time at a vintage market.
It was so much fun and I met some wonderful people!

Anyway ...What do you think of my gray dresser?  I used Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint on it, but then added some rain water and grey over that. I used a chip brush and just kind of crisis crossed the paint as I went.

I heavily distressed it and then added the numbers from The Graphics Fairy using the Mod Podge transfer method...You can find my tutorial here.

I had a little bit of everything there...I will give you more detailed tutorials for some of things later this month.

I sold this lovey vintage typewriter to the nicest people on the first day...(I'm always the saddest to see my typewriters go...but I know this one went to a good home)!

The cutest young couple wanted my burlap lampshade so bad, that I told them if the came back late Saturday and the lamp hadn't sold yet I would just sell them the shade...
Time to make a new shade!  :)

My jewelry went well too....Which is a good thing, because I really do enjoy making them!!!
My spoon and hardware jewelry were displayed on my dress form...
(She may not be the most glamours thing, but I got her free on the side of the road and she's become a true friend....The kind that is always willing to help out).

My domino pendants were displayed in a variety of ways.  :)

My Drexel side table was my first piece of furniture to sell...not a surprise...It was lovely!!
Did you notice the hat rack/jewelry holders on the back wall?  Bryan and I scored a whole bunch of faucet handles in a box at an estate sale...The oar or (hee-hee)  is it a paddle? I also turned into a hat rack...I wish there was a better way to display it...I think it got lost back there.

I will do a tutorial on my burlap bags and pumpkins later this week.

Well....I had a blast both getting ready for and doing the market!!
They do have a web site; Valley Vintage Market  so check it out!!
The next sale is October 18 and 19...I plan on being there.  :0
And as always
Thanks for visiting...I will be linking up to many of the parties on my side bar.

Cheers!

Kids Art: Autumn Leaves with Watercolors and Glue

Well I guess it's official Autumn is finally here!!  It blew in on Sunday with a typical Northwest storm....it was marvelous!!  I sat in my cozy chair, had my morning cup of joe and watched it blow...I guess it's time to get out my knitting!!

My after school art classes started back up this week too, so I thought I'd share an easy  very successful  fall art project.

This is a two day project;
The first day I had the kids draw leaves on their paper with pencil.

Then they went over them with black glue.
(I just added black acrylic paint to Elmer's glue...mixed it up good with the end of a small paint brush and ta-da black glue)

It could take over a day for the glue to dry, depending on how much they put on.

I then have them paint the background in cool colors and the leaves in warm colors....

The idea is that the glue keeps the watercolors in the lines....

And it works pretty good too!!

Aren't they lovely?

That's it for today, but if your looking for more art projects...Type in Kids Art on my search box and it should pull up some more ideas for you to try.
Thanks for visiting!

Drexel Side Table in Milk Paint

Wow I've been out of sorts lately...I'm not sure if it's the chaos of school starting or the fact that I got a bug and have felt like crap for a week now...maybe it's just the end of summer but I haven't felt like blogging...I go to the computer but only have the energy to scroll threw Pinterest...

I have manged to get a bunch of projects done...I've been making jewelry, bags and painting furniture for the Valley Vintage Market coming up in just 10 days and I'm a bit nervous or maybe it's neurotic but I'm scared to death I wont have enough done...I have this vision of what I want it to look like but I'm running out of time.  :(

Anyway this Lovely will be there....
She's by Drexel and is definitely a quality piece of furniture!!

Here's what she looked like when I found her....Her finish was beat up, but other than that she's a solid piece of furniture!
The first thing I did was sand the top...I've been wanting to do a two tone piece for a long time!
I painted the body with Miss Mustard Seeds Milk Paint (This is the first I've used it) and am very happy with the results!!!

After doing some distressing I applied a coat of wax...I use a blend of two waxes to get the color and the finish I want...

Isn't the detailing fantastic?

I painted the drawer pull in flat black to finish the look.

So what do you think??  I don't want to let it go....but I must!!
See you at the Market.  :)

Candy Corn Bottles

I'm not sure if it was the last few days of pouring down rain or the fact that I could see Bryan's breath the other morning as we headed to the patio, for our cup of joe...
But I am finally in a Autumn mood....

It's time to lite those pumpkin spice candles, put out a few fall decorations, plus get organized and ready for school to start...I hate the last part.  :(

So here's a little project I did last year but never had time to share...(my life definitely does not get easier when the kiddo's go back to school)...

I picked up these bottles at the GW...but it was last year so I have no idea what I paid..although they had to be cheap...that is what I do..cheap :)

I pounded a piece of rod iron in ground to hold the bottles (I do the same thing to paint bowling balls) and then used orange spray paint to cover the whole thing....
After the first coat had dried I sprayed the top with white paint and the bottom with yellow..
Easy Peasy!

I then filled them with fall foliage...

And put them under the oil painting I did of Cally...
Sooo
Let the air get crisp and the leaves fall...I am finally ready...I think.  :)

Eiffel Tower Side Table / Night Stand

I haven't posted any furniture re-do's lately, so I thought it was time....
And this is pretty cute; if I may say so myself.  :)

I got it at the GW along with a couple other pieces...(The Good Will is usually over priced)....but this was a good day....

I lightly sanded it and painted it with some of my homemade chalk paint...
Three coats to be exact...It wasn't an easy cover.

I added the Eiffel Tower and used stamps to add the word Paris....
But...

It was still missing something...

So I added these cute little drawer pulls from Hobby Lobby.

Just the right touch, don't you think?

Altered Dominoes...The Raven

I have had so much fun making Altered Clipboards, that I decided to size it down a bit and make some tiny little collages...on Dominoes.

Not that I'm pushing Autumn...This summer has been far to gorgeous to give it up!!
But I know it's time to start gearing up for the next season (The sad truth is...I should be working on Christmas, but I just can't bring myself to do it quite yet).

Anyway these were a fun change from painting furniture....letting my creative juices go in a different direction.

This made my A.D.D. self very happy!!  :)

The lettering was printed up on my 1970's electric typewriter...because I love it's font!!!

The moth came from The Graphics Fairy and the Raven was from a Martha Stewart Stencil.
The rest was scrap paper I had around the house.

Know what?  They do kind-of make me look forward to fall...After all it is my favorite season...just not quite yet!!
